Bedrock MCP serverand Python AI tasks

qbash hosts a Bedrock MCP server you can use in Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, Grok Bot and Muse.

Developers use qbash Tasks to write cloud-hosted Python functions that pair Bedrock with models such as Claude and GPT.

MCP server

Build a Bedrock MCP server

Give ChatGPT, Claude and your other AI tools access to Bedrock through one server. You pick which Bedrock tools it shares, and you can add other connectors, memory folders and Tasks to the same server.

How to set it up

  1. Connect Bedrock on the qbash Connectors page.
  2. Create an MCP server and add the Bedrock tools you want to share.
  3. Paste the server URL into your client. It connects with OAuth or an access token.

Python AI task

Write a Bedrock task in Python

A qbash Task is a hosted Python function that calls Bedrock and AI models.

Find the sources for a policy question

Retrieve five knowledge-base matches, then pass their text and source locations to a saved analysis prompt.

main.py
matches = qbash.integrations.aws.knowledge_base(
knowledgeBaseId="YOUR_KNOWLEDGE_BASE_ID",
queries=["What is our customer data retention policy?"],
awsRegion="us-west-2", resultsLength=5,
)
if matches:
answer = qbash.ai.run_prompt(
slug="bedrock-policy-answer",
variables={"sources": json.dumps(matches)},
)
qbash.output(answer)
else:
qbash.output("No source passages returned. Check the run logs.")
Sample knowledge_base response
[
{
"content": {
"text": "Customer exports are retained for 30 days."
},
"location": {
"type": "S3",
"s3Location": {
"uri": "s3://policies/data-retention.txt"
}
},
"score": 0.83,
"metadata": {}
}
]

What the Bedrock connector can do

  • Search an AWS Bedrock knowledge base with one or more queries

qbash Tasks: AI applications in Python

A Task is a Python function that calls Bedrock, your other connectors and models such as Claude, GPT, Gemini and Grok. qbash hosts and runs it.

  • Deterministic where it counts Write the logic in Python and call a model only for the steps that need judgement, so the rest runs the same way every time.
  • Version controlled Every save is a revision you can compare and roll back.
  • Logged Each run records its inputs, output, errors and what started it.
  • Shared credentials Connections belong to your organization, so a Task keeps working when its author is away.

Bedrock MCP questions

Is there an official MCP server for Bedrock knowledge bases?

AWS Labs publishes an open-source server, awslabs.bedrock-kb-retrieval-mcp-server, that you run locally with an AWS profile. qbash hosts the search remotely, so chat clients sign in with qbash and the AWS keys stay on the qbash connection.

Can it invoke Bedrock models?

No. Its single method searches a knowledge base and returns passages.
