Reddit MCP serverand Python AI tasks
qbash hosts a Reddit MCP server you can use in Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, Grok Bot and Muse.
Developers use qbash Tasks to write cloud-hosted Python functions that pair Reddit with models such as Claude and GPT.
MCP server
Build a Reddit MCP server
Give ChatGPT, Claude and your other AI tools access to Reddit through one server. You pick which Reddit tools it shares, and you can add other connectors, memory folders and Tasks to the same server.
How to set it up
- Connect Reddit on the qbash Connectors page.
- Create an MCP server and add the Reddit tools you want to share.
- Paste the server URL into your client. It connects with OAuth or an access token.
Python AI task
Write a Reddit task in Python
A qbash Task is a hosted Python function that calls Reddit and AI models.
Find questions about workflow automation
Search a subreddit’s recent discussions, then ask an inline prompt to extract recurring questions and cited examples.
report = qbash.integrations.reddit.search_subreddit(
subredditName="SaaS",
query="workflow automation",
sort="new",
timeFilter="week",
limit=25,
)
posts = report.get("posts", [])
if posts:
review = qbash.ai.run_prompt(
slug="reddit-questions",
variables={"posts": json.dumps(posts)},
)
qbash.output({"review": review, "more_available": bool(report.get("after"))})
else:
qbash.output("No matching discussions were returned.")

- Search within a specific subreddit
- Get public profile information for a Reddit user
- Get posts submitted by a Reddit user
- Get comments submitted by a Reddit user
- Get metadata and statistics for a subreddit
- Get the rules for a subreddit
- List available post flairs for a subreddit
qbash Tasks: AI applications in Python
A Task is a Python function that calls Reddit, your other connectors and models such as Claude, GPT, Gemini and Grok. qbash hosts and runs it.
Run Tasks on a schedule or from your team's tools
- Deterministic where it counts Write the logic in Python and call a model only for the steps that need judgement, so the rest runs the same way every time.
- Version controlled Every save is a revision you can compare and roll back.
- Logged Each run records its inputs, output, errors and what started it.
- Shared credentials Connections belong to your organization, so a Task keeps working when its author is away.
Reddit MCP questions
Does Reddit have an official MCP server?
No. Reddit publishes a REST API but no MCP server of its own. The qbash server calls that API with the Reddit app you register, so requests count against your app’s rate limits.
Can the Reddit MCP server post or vote?
No. All ten Reddit methods in qbash read data. Nothing on this server can submit, comment, vote or send messages.
Which Reddit credentials do I need?
The client ID and client secret of a Reddit app you create at reddit.com/prefs/apps. Add them once on the qbash Connectors page, and every MCP client and Task uses that connection.
Guides that use Reddit
Reddit research with qbash Tasks
The AI Ticker section of our newsletter starts with two Tasks. One scans model subreddits every day and stores a summary of each new thread in a memory folder. The other ranks a week of those summaries, writes the ticker, and runs a copy review, one single-purpose prompt at a time.
Product update: a bigger, calmer Tasks editor, plus new connectors
What shipped this week: a rebuilt Tasks editor with tabs, inline prompts, line-level revisions, and an AI assist; three new connectors and four updates; and two new essays from the blog.
