Slack MCP serverand Python AI tasks
qbash hosts a Slack MCP server you can use in Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, Grok Bot and Muse.
Developers use qbash Tasks to write cloud-hosted Python functions that pair Slack with models such as Claude and GPT.
MCP server
Build a Slack MCP server
Give ChatGPT, Claude and your other AI tools access to Slack through one server. You pick which Slack tools it shares, and you can add other connectors, memory folders and Tasks to the same server.
How to set it up
- Connect Slack on the qbash Connectors page.
- Create an MCP server and add the Slack tools you want to share.
- Paste the server URL into your client. It connects with OAuth or an access token.
Python AI task
Write a Slack task in Python
A qbash Task is a hosted Python function that calls Slack and AI models.
Draft a channel discussion digest
Read one day of channel messages and ask an inline prompt to extract decisions and open questions.
since = (datetime.now(timezone.utc) - timedelta(days=1)).isoformat()
report = qbash.integrations.slack.get_conversation_history(
channel="C0123456789", oldest=since, limit=50,
)
messages = report["messages"]
if messages:
digest = qbash.ai.run_prompt(
slug="slack-channel-digest",
variables={"messages": json.dumps(messages)},
)
qbash.output(digest)
else:
qbash.output("No channel messages in this period.")

What the Slack connector can do
- Send a message to a channel
- Reply to a message thread
- Get a user's profile information
- Find a user by their email address
- Download a file shared in Slack
- Fetch messages from a channel within a date range
- Fetch replies in a thread
- List users in the workspace
- List channels and conversations accessible to the bot
- Get detailed information about a specific channel
- List member user IDs in a channel
qbash Tasks: AI applications in Python
A Task is a Python function that calls Slack, your other connectors and models such as Claude, GPT, Gemini and Grok. qbash hosts and runs it.
Run Tasks on a schedule or from your team's tools
- Deterministic where it counts Write the logic in Python and call a model only for the steps that need judgement, so the rest runs the same way every time.
- Version controlled Every save is a revision you can compare and roll back.
- Logged Each run records its inputs, output, errors and what started it.
- Shared credentials Connections belong to your organization, so a Task keeps working when its author is away.
Slack MCP questions
Does Slack have an official MCP server?
Yes. Slack runs an MCP server at mcp.slack.com/mcp that signs in with OAuth. The qbash server puts Slack beside your other connectors on one URL, and scheduled Python tasks can read the same channels.
Which channels can it read?
The channels its bot belongs to. Add the bot to a private channel before asking about it.
Can it search across all of Slack?
No. It has no search tool, so it reads history one channel at a time by date range.
Guides that use Slack
Asana AI automation that reads Slack and GitHub for you
Triaging our busiest Slack channel into Asana tickets was a Monday morning job. This Task reads a week of Slack threads, checks two Asana sections and merged GitHub PRs for what already shipped, and files one Asana ticket with a subtask per theme.
Building a Lead Gen Automation Prototype
The most copied lead-gen workflow on n8n scrapes Google Maps and ends in a spreadsheet. Here's the same job rebuilt as an Aisle Task with Google Maps, Apollo.io, HubSpot, and Slack.
MCP Enabled Globally, Slack & Jira Workflow Nodes, and Enhanced File Support
MCP for all Aisle orgs, Slack and Jira workflow nodes, PowerPoint and xlsx in chat and workflows. User-level pins and launcher improvements.
