Build Reddit sentiment analysis in Python.
Search for brand mentions, classify the returned posts, and give your team a digest with source links. qbash runs the Python and can deliver the result to Slack on a schedule.
Meet qbash Tasks
Your Python, deployed and ready for your team.
A Task is a cloud-hosted Python function. Write your automation, save to deploy, and give your team a way to run it.
Cloud-hosted
Your function runs on qbash. No server to provision.
Built in Python
Write the logic, call integrations, and decide what AI handles.
Multi-model
Choose the model for each AI step in your function.
Versions & logs
Review code changes, restore versions, and inspect each run.
Auto-deploy
Save your Task to make the new version live.
Run anywhere
Call it from a form, API, Slack, or AI chat. Schedule it, too.
Turn a bounded Reddit search into a sentiment analysis digest.
The result is returned to the caller by default. Slack delivery is an explicit option. Checkpoints preserve the window, search snapshot and classifications for retries of this execution.
Before you run this example
- Connect Reddit and a model. Add a Slack connection if you want delivery. Declare brand as Text, days as Number defaulting to 1, post_to_slack as Boolean defaulting to false, and slack_channel as optional Text.
- Share this Task only with people permitted to choose the destination channel. Alternatively fix an approved channel in code.
- The example accepts 1–7 days, up to 200 matching posts and 20 search pages. Narrow the query when it reaches a bound. Reddit search coverage is not a guarantee of every mention.
brand = qbash.inputs.get("brand") days = qbash.inputs.get("days") or 1 post_to_slack = qbash.inputs.get("post_to_slack") is True channel = qbash.inputs.get("slack_channel") if not brand or type(days) is not int or not 1 <= days <= 7: raise ValueError("Provide a brand and an integer window from 1 to 7 days.") if post_to_slack and not channel: raise ValueError("Choose a Slack channel before enabling delivery.") end = qbash.checkpoint.get_or_set("window-end", lambda: datetime.now(timezone.utc).timestamp()) start = end - days * 86400 def collect_posts(): posts, cursor, seen = [], None, set() for _ in range(20): page = qbash.integrations.reddit.search( query=brand, sort="new", timeFilter="week", limit=100, after=cursor, ) for post in page.get("posts") or []: if start <= post["created_utc"] < end and post["id"] not in seen: seen.add(post["id"]) posts.append(post) if len(posts) > 200: raise ValueError("Narrow the brand query or time window to at most 200 posts.") cursor = page.get("after") if not cursor: return posts raise ValueError("Search exceeded 20 pages. - Search follows Reddit cursors before classification. The stored snapshot lives in a file, with only a reference in the checkpoint.
- Complaint, question, praise and noise are editable categories. The model sees up to 6,000 body characters per post.
- The digest includes at most 20 complaints and questions, while the returned mentions list contains all selected posts in this batch.
- Fresh executions search the window again. Overlapping windows and replayed Slack sends can repeat mentions unless you add persistent delivery tracking.

When custom Python is useful
Custom classification and downstream processing can justify a Task. Existing monitoring tools may be sufficient for keyword alerts and standard reporting.
Put this automation to work with qbash.
Connect the example to the way your team uses it.
Return the digest in AI chat or send it to Slack
A colleague can use the generated form or call the shared Task through MCP from Claude or ChatGPT. The brand and days inputs control the search, and qbash.output returns the digest and source records. Enable post_to_slack only when that caller should deliver a channel message.
Schedule a digest with a deliberate delivery policy
Configure a qbash schedule and its inputs for background runs. Track delivered post IDs and reporting periods in a persistent database if mentions should appear only once. Execution checkpoints survive retries, not fresh scheduled runs. A send followed by a failed receipt write can still need reconciliation.
Maintain the categories in Python
Change the classification instructions and review results against actual posts. qbash keeps code versions and execution logs. For a different source such as X, add a retrieval adapter and normalize its fields before calling the same classifier.
Questions
Does this monitor every Reddit mention?
No. It classifies posts returned by Reddit search for the query and window, within explicit page and count limits. It does not retrieve every comment or guarantee complete search coverage.
How do I prevent repeated mentions across scheduled runs?
Keep processed or delivered post IDs in persistent storage, scoped to the brand and destination. Checkpoint keys are execution-scoped and are not visible to a fresh run.
Are credentials and rate limits automatic?
The connected integration handles authentication. You still need access permitted by Reddit and should pace calls according to the connected account limits. The limit parameter controls page size, not request rate.
Can a teammate ask for a week of results?
Yes. Set days to 7 through the form or an authorised MCP call. If the query exceeds the example limits, narrow it rather than treating a partial result as complete.
Can I monitor a competitor?
Use that competitor name as the brand input. Review the categories and query so ambiguous names do not produce misleading results.
When is a monitoring product a better fit?
Choose an existing alerting or monitoring product when its source coverage, dashboard and delivery fit your needs. Choose a Task when a developer needs custom classification or processing in Python.
