Airtable MCP serverand Python AI tasks
qbash hosts a Airtable MCP server you can use in Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, Grok Bot and Muse.
Developers use qbash Tasks to write cloud-hosted Python functions that pair Airtable with models such as Claude and GPT.
MCP server
Build a Airtable MCP server
Give ChatGPT, Claude and your other AI tools access to Airtable through one server. You pick which Airtable tools it shares, and you can add other connectors, memory folders and Tasks to the same server.
How to set it up
- Connect Airtable on the qbash Connectors page.
- Create an MCP server and add the Airtable tools you want to share.
- Paste the server URL into your client. It connects with OAuth or an access token.
Python AI task
Write a Airtable task in Python
A qbash Task is a hosted Python function that calls Airtable and AI models.
Review requests waiting for triage
Read a queue filtered by status, then group the requests into themes with an inline prompt.
report = qbash.integrations.airtable.list_records(
base_id="appYOURBASEID", tableId="Requests",
filterByFormula="{Status} = 'New'",
fields=["Title", "Description", "Status"], pageSize=25,
)
records = report["records"]
if records:
analysis = qbash.ai.run_prompt(
slug="airtable-request-triage",
variables={"requests": json.dumps(records)},
)
qbash.output(analysis)
else:
qbash.output("No new requests on this page.")
Sample list_records response
{
"status": "success",
"records": [
{
"id": "rec123",
"fields": {
"Title": "Export invoices",
"Description": "Need monthly CSV export",
"Status": "New"
},
"created_time": "2026-09-28T12:00:00Z"
}
],
"record_count": 1
}
What the Airtable connector can do
- List all accessible Airtable bases
- List tables in an Airtable base
- Get schema and metadata for a specific Airtable table
- List records from an Airtable table. Returns up to 100 records per page. Use the returned offset to fetch subsequent pages
- Search records in an Airtable table by text. When fieldIds is omitted, automatically searches all text fields
- Get a specific Airtable record by ID
- Create a new record in an Airtable table
- Create up to 10 records in an Airtable table
- Update up to 10 existing records in an Airtable table
- Delete up to 10 records from an Airtable table by ID
- Get the full schema for an Airtable base, covering all tables and fields
- Reference list of all Airtable field types organised by category
- List views configured on an Airtable table
- Create a new table in an Airtable base
- Create a new field in an existing Airtable table
- Update an existing field name, description, or select options. Fields cannot be deleted via the Airtable API. Rename or clear values instead
qbash Tasks: AI applications in Python
A Task is a Python function that calls Airtable, your other connectors and models such as Claude, GPT, Gemini and Grok. qbash hosts and runs it.
Run Tasks on a schedule or from your team's tools
- Deterministic where it counts Write the logic in Python and call a model only for the steps that need judgement, so the rest runs the same way every time.
- Version controlled Every save is a revision you can compare and roll back.
- Logged Each run records its inputs, output, errors and what started it.
- Shared credentials Connections belong to your organization, so a Task keeps working when its author is away.
Airtable MCP questions
Does Airtable have an official MCP server?
Yes. Airtable hosts one at mcp.airtable.com/mcp on every plan, with OAuth sign-in. The qbash server reaches Airtable through a personal access token and can share one URL with your other connectors, and Python tasks call the same methods.
Can the Airtable MCP server delete fields?
No. The Airtable API has no endpoint for deleting a field, so the connector can rename a field, change its description or edit its select options. Records can be deleted, up to 10 per call.
Guides that use Airtable
Creating a Fed sentiment dataset for bond analysis
Long-bond yields are at 19-year highs. This Task searches the web for remarks from 20 Fed officials, classifies each one as hawkish, dovish, or neutral with a confidence score, and writes the new rows to Airtable.
Claude Fable 5.1 is live, and every run is in one place
Fable 5.1 is in the catalog with cache reads at a quarter of the old price, every task and prompt run now sits in one table, four connector fixes, simpler memory access in Task scripts, two new posts, and this week's AI Ticker.
A CRM your sales team can talk to
An Airtable base of deals, one Task with four modes, mounted on an MCP server. The sales team updates the pipeline by chatting, without edit access to the table.
Product update: a bigger, calmer Tasks editor, plus new connectors
What shipped this week: a rebuilt Tasks editor with tabs, inline prompts, line-level revisions, and an AI assist; three new connectors and four updates; and two new essays from the blog.
