Cobalt MCP serverand Python AI tasks

qbash hosts a Cobalt MCP server you can use in Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, Grok Bot and Muse.

Developers use qbash Tasks to write cloud-hosted Python functions that pair Cobalt with models such as Claude and GPT.

MCP server

Build a Cobalt MCP server

Give ChatGPT, Claude and your other AI tools access to Cobalt through one server. You pick which Cobalt tools it shares, and you can add other connectors, memory folders and Tasks to the same server.

How to set it up

  1. Connect Cobalt on the qbash Connectors page.
  2. Create an MCP server and add the Cobalt tools you want to share.
  3. Paste the server URL into your client. It connects with OAuth or an access token.

Python AI task

Write a Cobalt task in Python

A qbash Task is a hosted Python function that calls Cobalt and AI models.

Prepare a portfolio company snapshot

Read one page of company records and ask an inline prompt to write a snapshot for a recurring portfolio review.

main.py
report = qbash.integrations.cobalt.list_companies(limit="25", offset="0")
data = report.get("data")
companies = data.get("companies", []) if isinstance(data, dict) else data or []
if companies:
snapshot = qbash.ai.run_prompt(
slug="cobalt-portfolio-snapshot",
variables={"companies": json.dumps(companies)},
)
qbash.output(snapshot)
else:
qbash.output("No company records on this page.")
Sample list_companies response
{
"status": "success",
"data": {
"companies": [
{
"uid": "comp-001",
"name": "Example company"
}
]
}
}

What the Cobalt connector can do

  • Read portfolio companies, funds and portfolios
  • List deals with filters and read a single deal
  • Read custom field values and update them in batches
  • Create, update or delete companies, deals, funds and portfolios
  • Define new custom fields
  • Check the Cobalt API status

qbash Tasks: AI applications in Python

A Task is a Python function that calls Cobalt, your other connectors and models such as Claude, GPT, Gemini and Grok. qbash hosts and runs it.

  • Deterministic where it counts Write the logic in Python and call a model only for the steps that need judgement, so the rest runs the same way every time.
  • Version controlled Every save is a revision you can compare and roll back.
  • Logged Each run records its inputs, output, errors and what started it.
  • Shared credentials Connections belong to your organization, so a Task keeps working when its author is away.

Cobalt MCP questions

Can the Cobalt MCP server delete records?

Yes. It has delete methods for companies, deals, funds, portfolios, custom fields and field values, plus a batch delete for deals. Leave those tools off the server when chat users should only read.

Which Cobalt credentials does qbash need?

A Cobalt API key, plus the API base URL when your account uses a custom endpoint.
