Linear MCP serverand Python AI tasks

qbash hosts a Linear MCP server you can use in Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, Grok Bot and Muse.

Developers use qbash Tasks to write cloud-hosted Python functions that pair Linear with models such as Claude and GPT.

MCP server

Build a Linear MCP server

Give ChatGPT, Claude and your other AI tools access to Linear through one server. You pick which Linear tools it shares, and you can add other connectors, memory folders and Tasks to the same server.

How to set it up

  1. Connect Linear on the qbash Connectors page.
  2. Create an MCP server and add the Linear tools you want to share.
  3. Paste the server URL into your client. It connects with OAuth or an access token.

Python AI task

Write a Linear task in Python

A qbash Task is a hosted Python function that calls Linear and AI models.

Summarize active Linear issues

Read issues in the started workflow category and ask an inline prompt for a report grouped by project and assignee.

main.py
report = qbash.integrations.linear.list_issues(state_type="started", limit=50)
issues = report.get("issues", [])
if issues:
summary = qbash.ai.run_prompt(
slug="linear-active-issues",
variables={"issues": json.dumps(issues)},
)
qbash.output(summary)
else:
qbash.output("No active issues in this page.")

What the Linear connector can do

  • Get the authenticated Linear user
  • List one page of accessible Linear teams
  • List one page of active workspace users
  • List one page of projects, optionally restricted to a team
  • List one page of cycles, optionally restricted to a team
  • List one page of issue workflow states, optionally restricted to a team
  • List one page of issue labels. A team filter also includes workspace labels
  • List one page of issues with server-side filters, most recently updated first
  • Get one issue by UUID or identifier such as ENG-123
  • List one page of comments on an issue
  • Create an issue in a team. Requires Create issues or Write permission
  • Update only supplied issue fields. Requires Write permission. label_ids replaces all labels
  • Add a Markdown comment to an issue. Requires Create comments or Write permission

qbash Tasks: AI applications in Python

A Task is a Python function that calls Linear, your other connectors and models such as Claude, GPT, Gemini and Grok. qbash hosts and runs it.

OpenAIAnthropicGrokGmailSlackGitHub+ more
  • Deterministic where it counts Write the logic in Python and call a model only for the steps that need judgement, so the rest runs the same way every time.
  • Version controlled Every save is a revision you can compare and roll back.
  • Logged Each run records its inputs, output, errors and what started it.
  • Shared credentials Connections belong to your organization, so a Task keeps working when its author is away.

Linear MCP questions

Does Linear have an official MCP server?

Yes. Linear hosts one at mcp.linear.app/mcp with OAuth sign-in. The qbash server uses an API key you restrict to chosen teams, and it can serve Linear next to other connectors and Tasks.

What can a read-only Linear key do?

A key with only Read permission can list and read every object above. Creating issues needs Create issues or Write, comments need Create comments or Write, and updating an issue needs Write.

Build a Linear task

Write it in Python with AI steps, and qbash hosts it with versions and run logs.
