WordPress MCP serverand Python AI tasks

qbash hosts a WordPress MCP server you can use in Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, Grok Bot and Muse.

Developers use qbash Tasks to write cloud-hosted Python functions that pair WordPress with models such as Claude and GPT.

MCP server

Build a WordPress MCP server

Give ChatGPT, Claude and your other AI tools access to WordPress through one server. You pick which WordPress tools it shares, and you can add other connectors, memory folders and Tasks to the same server.

How to set it up

  1. Connect WordPress on the qbash Connectors page.
  2. Create an MCP server and add the WordPress tools you want to share.
  3. Paste the server URL into your client. It connects with OAuth or an access token.

Python AI task

Write a WordPress task in Python

A qbash Task is a hosted Python function that calls WordPress and AI models.

Find drafts that have stalled

List draft and pending posts with the oldest edit first, then ask an inline prompt which have stalled and which to finish first.

main.py
report = qbash.integrations.wordpress.list_posts(
status="draft,pending",
orderby="modified",
order="asc",
limit=20,
)
posts = report.get("posts", [])
if posts:
review = qbash.ai.run_prompt(
slug="wordpress-stalled-drafts",
variables={"posts": json.dumps(posts)},
)
qbash.output({"review": review, "more_available": bool(report.get("next_cursor"))})
else:
qbash.output("No draft or pending posts.")

What the WordPress connector can do

  • Get the site's name, description, URL and timezone, and the connected user's name and roles
  • List posts with title, status, dates, author, categories, tags and link. Filter by status, text, dates, author, category or tag
  • Get one post by id, including its rendered content
  • List pages with title, status, dates, parent page and link
  • Get one page by id, including its rendered content
  • List comments, for one post or across the site, by moderation status: approve, hold or spam
  • List post categories with their slug, parent and post count
  • List post tags with their slug and post count
  • List the site's users. Emails, usernames and roles need context="edit" and an Administrator
  • List media library items with file URL, MIME type, size and alt text
  • Search posts and pages by text and return each match's id, title, URL and type
  • Create a post, saved as a draft unless status is set. Pass status="publish" to publish it
  • Update a post's title, content, status, excerpt, categories, tags, slug, date or featured image. Fields left out stay as they are
  • Post a comment as the connected user, or reply to a comment by passing parent
  • Set a comment's status to approve, hold or spam
  • Get WordPress.com Stats: views and visitors for a period, or top posts by views. Needs a WordPress.com connection

qbash Tasks: AI applications in Python

A Task is a Python function that calls WordPress, your other connectors and models such as Claude, GPT, Gemini and Grok. qbash hosts and runs it.

Run Tasks on a schedule or from your team's tools

OpenAIAnthropicGrokGmailSlackGitHub+ more
  • Deterministic where it counts Write the logic in Python and call a model only for the steps that need judgement, so the rest runs the same way every time.
  • Version controlled Every save is a revision you can compare and roll back.
  • Logged Each run records its inputs, output, errors and what started it.
  • Shared credentials Connections belong to your organization, so a Task keeps working when its author is away.

WordPress MCP questions

Does WordPress have an official MCP server?

WordPress.com hosts one for its own sites, switched on from account settings. The qbash server also connects self-hosted and VIP sites through an application password, alongside your other connectors on one URL.

Will the assistant publish posts without review?

Only when it sets status to publish. Otherwise new posts wait as drafts, and the connector has no methods that delete posts, pages or comments.

Write it in Python with AI steps, and qbash hosts it with versions and run logs.
